Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the presence of Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, and he dwelt by a well.

He made his camels kneel down outside the city by a well of water in the evening when the women came out to draw water.

And she bore to him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.

As he looked, he saw a well in the field, and behold, three flocks of sheep lying beside it, for out of that well the flocks were watered. A large stone was on the well’s opening.

A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.

I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction; the curtains of the land of Midian trembled.

But when they persecute you in this city, escape into another. For truly I say to you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

Jacob’s well was there. Jesus, therefore, being exhausted from His journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

Moses fled at this word and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king. He endured by looking to Him who is invisible.
