The woman said to Elijah, “Now, because of this, I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth!”

Then he returned to the man of God, he and all his company. He came and stood before him, and he said, “Behold, I know that there is no God in all the land, except in Israel. Now take a gift from your servant.”

For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. He is to be feared above all gods.

“And the house that I am building will be great because our God is greater than all other gods.

You enacted signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his servants, and against all the people of his land because You knew how arrogantly they had acted against them. Thus, You made a name for Yourself, as it is this day.

“But they and our fathers acted proudly and hardened their necks and did not obey Your commandments.

“You warned them in order to restore them again to Your law, but they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments. They sinned against Your ordinances (which would enable a man to live, if he would do them), stubbornly turning away and becoming belligerent so that they would not hear.

You rebuke the proud, the cursed, who stray from Your commandments.

For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, but fully repays the one who acts in pride.

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

For You, O  Lord, are Most High above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods.

Come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it come to pass that when any war breaks out, they also join our enemies, and fight against us, and escape from the land.”

and he said, “When you perform the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women and see them on the stools, if it is a son, then you must kill him, but if it is a daughter, then she may live.”

Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, “You must cast every son that is born into the river, and you must preserve every daughter’s life.”

Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast, and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the Lord.

Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord when I am honored through Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”

The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the Israelites. However, the Israelites went out with confidence.

“Who is like You, O  Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

And Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go.”

“You shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and those who walk in pride He is able to abase.

because the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, whom the Lord had killed among them. Upon their gods the Lord executed judgments.

He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

But He gives more grace. For this reason it says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Likewise you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elders. Yes, all of you be submissive one to another and clothe yourselves with humility, because “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

“Do not multiply proud speech, nor let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the Lord is the God of knowledge, and by Him actions are examined.
