However, they did not listen to Moses, and some of them left part of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank, and Moses was angry with them.

Moses said to them, “Let no man leave any of it until the morning.”

So they gathered it every morning, every man according to what he could eat. And when the sun got hot, it melted.

So they laid it up until the morning, just as Moses commanded, and it did not stink, nor was there any worm in it.

(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all the men on the face of the earth.)

Moses was very angry and said to the Lord, “Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, nor have I hurt one of them.”

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

But when Jesus saw it, He was very displeased and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of God.

When He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch your hand forward.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.

Then He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness. For a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

Sell your possessions and give alms. Provide yourselves bags that do not grow old, an unfailing treasure in the heavens, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

Be angry but do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger.

Let your lives be without love of money, and be content with the things you have. For He has said: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”
