At midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon and all the firstborn of livestock.

But I will judge the nation that they serve, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.

In a moment they will die, and the people will be troubled at midnight and pass away, and the mighty will be taken away without a hand.

He also struck all the firstborn in their land, the first fruit of all their strength.

It is He who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast;

to Him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, for His mercy endures forever;

He made a path for His anger; He did not spare them from death, but gave their lives over to the plague,

and struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, the first fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.

Now the Lord said to Moses, “I will still bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt. Afterwards he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he shall surely thrust you out from here altogether.

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast, and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the Lord.

Then the Israelites went and did so. Just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

And when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the Lord killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast. Therefore, I sacrifice to the Lord the first male offspring of every womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’

So I say to you, “Let My son go, that he may serve Me. And if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your firstborn son.” ’ ”

Then the Lord did this thing the next day, so that all the livestock of Egypt died, but not one of the livestock of the Israelites died.

They shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the dungeon, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days they shall be punished.

Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and humiliated; they shall be as nothing, and those who strive with you shall perish.

The exile shall soon be freed, and shall not die in the dungeon, nor will his bread be lacking.

Then they drew Jeremiah up with cords and took him up out of the cistern, and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

Then they took Jeremiah and cast him into the cistern of Malkijah the son of Hammelech that was in the court of the prison, and they let Jeremiah down with cords. And in the cistern there was no water, only mud, so Jeremiah sank in the mud.

Pestilence went out before Him, and plague followed His feet.

And as for you, because of the blood of your covenant, I will send your prisoners from the empty, waterless pits.

because all the firstborn are Mine, for on the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I set apart to Me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast. They shall be Mine. I am the Lord.

because the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, whom the Lord had killed among them. Upon their gods the Lord executed judgments.

For all the firstborn of the Israelites are Mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself.

By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest the one who destroys the firstborn touch them.

to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven; to God, the Judge of all; and to the spirits of the righteous ones made complete;
