Esther 7:8

Modern English Version

Now the king returned from the palace garden back to the hall of the banquet as Haman was falling on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he also violate the queen while I am in the room?” As the shout erupted from the king’s mouth, they covered the face of Haman.

When these days were completed, the king prepared a seven-day feast for all the people present, from the greatest to the least, in the citadel of Susa. This feast was in the courtyard garden of the king’s palace

where white and blue linen hangings were fastened with cords of white and purple linen to silver rings and columns of marble. The gold- and silver-plated couches were on a mosaic pavement of porphyry, marble, mother-of-pearl, and other costly stones.

As Mordecai returned again to the king’s gate, Haman hurried to his house, mourning with his head covered.

Then the king said, “Hang him on it!” So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s wrath was pacified.

The earth is given into the hand of the wicked. He covers the faces of its judges. If it is not He, then who is it?

Behold, the Lord is about to hurl you headlong, O man; He is about to seize you firmly.

kings shall be your foster fathers and their queens your nursing mothers; they shall bow down to you with their faces toward the ground and lick up the dust of your feet. And you shall know that I am the Lord, for those who wait for Me shall not be ashamed.

Thus says the Lord: As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion a pair of legs or a piece of an ear, so will the Israelites be rescued, those who live in Samaria, with the corner of a bed or a piece of a couch.

Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to strike Him, saying to Him, “Prophesy!” And the guards struck Him with the palms of their hands.
