So Esther summoned Hathak, one of the king’s eunuchs appointed to attend her, and commanded him concerning Mordecai to learn what this was about and why.

On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Karkas, the seven eunuchs attending to the needs of King Ahasuerus,

But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command delivered by his eunuchs. Therefore, the king grew very angry, and his wrath burned within him.

Again Esther spoke to Hathak and ordered him to reply to Mordecai:

So the young women of Esther and her eunuchs came and told her of it. The queen was then seized by anguish. She sent garments to clothe Mordecai so that he could remove his sackcloth, but he would not accept them.

So Hathak went out to where Mordecai was in the area of the city in front of the king’s gate.

Hathak returned and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.

Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who was in every sense tempted like we are, yet without sin.
