For there is an event for people and an event for animals, one fate for them both; as one dies, so does the other; there is one breath for all of them. There is no advantage for people over animals, for everything is vanity.

We will surely die and are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not take away a life; He devises plans so that His banished ones will not be cast out from Him.

You hide Your face; they are troubled; You take away their breath; they die and return to their dust.

Nevertheless man cannot remain in his splendor; he is like the beasts that perish.

This is the way of those who are foolish, and of their posterity who approve their sayings.   Selah

A man who is in his splendor, yet without understanding, is like the animals that perish.

I have seen everything that is done under the sun; and behold, everything is vanity and like chasing the wind.

And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know the folly of ideas, and to know foolish behavior. I know that this as well is like chasing the wind.

A wise man has eyes in his head, but the fool continues in darkness. Moreover, I experienced that each one experiences the same event—death.

For there is no lasting remembrance of the wise or the fool, seeing that in the coming days everyone will have been forgotten. How the wise dies just like the fool!

It is better to go to a house of mourning for a funeral than to go to a house of feasting for a celebration; for this is the destiny of all humanity; and the living should consider this in their heart.

For no one knows his appointed time. Like fish caught in a cruel net, like birds caught in a snare, so people are ensnared in an evil time, when it suddenly falls on them.

The same fate comes to all; there is one fate for the righteous and the wicked, for the good and the evil, for the clean and unclean, for the one who sacrifices and the one who does not sacrifice. As is the good person, So is the sinful person; As it is for the one who takes an oath, So also for the one who fears an oath.

If these men die the common death of all men, or if they are visited after the visitation of all men, then the Lord has not sent me.
