If the angry spirit of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your position, for calmness pacifies great offenses.

An angry man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger pacifies a quarrel.

With patience is a prince persuaded, and a gentle tongue will break a bone.

There is an evil that I have observed under the sun, as an error proceeding from the ruler:

Do not be hasty to leave his presence. Do not take a stand in an unpleasant matter, for he does whatever pleases him.
