Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life, but teach them to your sons, and your grandsons.

It is the living who give thanks to You, as I do this day; a father explains to his sons about Your faithfulness.

You have seen many things, but you do not observe them; your ears are open, but no one hears.

Thus says the Lord: Take heed to yourselves, and do not bear any load on the Sabbath day or bring anything in by the gates of Jerusalem.

Take heed therefore how you hear. For whoever has, to him will be given. And whoever has not, from him will be taken even what he thinks he has.”

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

These are the statutes and judgments which you shall be careful to observe in the land, which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess, all the days that you live on the earth.

You must not eat leavened bread with it. For seven days you must eat unleavened bread, the bread of affliction, for you came out of the land of Egypt in a hurry, so that you may remember all the days of your life the day when you came out of the land of Egypt.

It must be with him, and he must read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, and carefully observe all the words of this law and these statutes, and do them,

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, so that we may keep all the words of this law.

“Now therefore write yourself this song and teach it to the Israelites. Put it on their mouths, so that this song may be a witness for Me against the Israelites.

he said to them, “Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe, all the words of this law.

Especially concerning the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, when the Lord said to me, “Gather the people together to Me, so that I will let them hear My words so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they shall live on the earth, and so that they may teach their children.”

Give good care to yourselves, for you saw no form on the day that the Lord spoke to you in Horeb from the midst of the fire,

Watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which He made with you, and make yourself a graven image or the likeness of anything as the Lord your God has forbidden you.

then beware lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

so that you might fear the Lord your God in order to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you—you, and your son, and your grandson—all the days of your life, so that your days may be prolonged.

When your son asks you in time to come, saying, “What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God has commanded you?”

You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, and His judgments, and His statutes, which I am commanding you today.

then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery,

Therefore we should be more attentive to what we have heard, lest we drift away.

how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

Do you see how faith worked with his works, and by works faith was made complete?

Whoever rebels against your command and disobeys your words, in all that you command him, shall be put to death. Only be strong and courageous.”

Now be careful, therefore, to love the Lord your God!

He said to the Israelites, “When your children someday ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’

Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.

The Israelites did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.

The Israelites did not remember the Lord their God, who had delivered them from the hands of their enemies around them,
