They have made Me jealous with that which is not God; they have provoked Me to anger with their empty things. And I will make them jealous of those who are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and the people provoked Him to jealousy with the sins they committed, even worse than their fathers had done.

Because they have forsaken Me and have made offerings to other gods, so that they have provoked Me to anger with all the works of their hands, therefore My wrath will be kindled against this place, and it will not be quenched.

I have hated those who regard worthless idols, but I trust in the Lord.

For they provoked Him to anger with their high places and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.

a people who provoke Me continually to My face, presenting sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick;

But they are altogether unthinking and foolish; the wooden idol is worthless instruction.

Are there any among the idols of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Is it not You, O  Lord our God? Therefore, we will wait upon You, for You have done all these things.

Because My people have forgotten Me, they have burned incense to vain gods and they have stumbled in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in bypaths, not on a highway,

Has a nation changed their gods, though they are not gods? But My people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.

How shall I pardon you for this? Your children have forsaken Me and sworn by those who are not gods. When I had fed them to the full, then they committed adultery and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.

Behold, the cry of the daughter of my people from a far country: “Is not the Lord in Zion? Is not her king in her?” “Why have they provoked Me to anger with their graven images, with foreign vanities?”

He stretched out the form of a hand and took me by a lock of my head. And the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heavens, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy.

Yet the number of the Israelites will be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered. And in the place where it was said to them, “You are not My people,” there it will be said to them, “You are the sons of the living God.”

“Those who follow vain idols forsake their true loyalty.

“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as He fell on us at the beginning.

“Men, why are you doing this? We also are men, of like nature with you, preaching to you to turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything that is in them,

But I say, did Israel not know? First, Moses says: “I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.”

As indeed He says in Hosea: “I will call those who were not My people, ‘My people,’ and her who was not beloved, ‘Beloved,’ ”

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

They made Him jealous with strange gods; with abominations they provoked Him to anger.

They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that recently came along, whom your fathers did not fear.

But do not turn aside, for then you would be going after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing.
