Deuteronomy 31:17

Then My anger will burn against them on that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide My face from them, and they will be devoured, and many disasters and troubles will befall them, so that they will say in that day, ‘Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not among us?’

The Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. Let Him neither leave us nor forsake us,

“Go, inquire of the Lord for me, for the people, and for all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found, for great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book by doing according to all that is written concerning us.”

As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your fathers and serve Him with a whole heart and with a willing spirit, for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intent of every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will abandon you forever.

Why do You hide Your face and regard me as Your enemy?

He will repay a man for his work, and cause every man to find what is according to his ways.

You hide Your face; they are troubled; You take away their breath; they die and return to their dust.

Kiss the son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all who seek refuge in Him.

Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn thrust Your servant away in anger; You have been my help. Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Lord, by Your favor You made me stand as a strong mountain; You hid Your face, and I was dismayed.

You make us turn back from the enemy, and those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves.

How long, O  Lord? Will You hide Yourself forever? How long will Your wrath burn like fire?

Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.

For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves with the children of strangers.

Therefore the anger of the Lord burns against His people, and He has stretched out His hand against them, and has stricken them, and the hills trembled. Their corpses were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this His anger is not turned away, and His hand is still stretched out.

O  Lord, why have You made us to err from Your ways and hardened our heart from fearing You? Return for Your servants’ sake, the tribes of Your inheritance.

There is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us and have consumed us because of our iniquities.

I will wait on the Lord, who hides His face from the house of Jacob, and I will eagerly look for Him.

When this people or the prophet or a priest asks you, saying, “What is the oracle of the Lord?” you shall then say to them, “What oracle? I will forsake you, says the Lord.”

Therefore, behold, I will utterly forget you and cast you and the city that I gave you and your fathers out of My presence.

They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men whom I have slain in My anger and in My fury, all for whose wickedness I have hidden My face from this city.

Perhaps their supplication will come before the Lord, and everyone will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and the fury that the Lord has pronounced against this people.”

The captain of the guard had taken Jeremiah, and said to him: “The Lord your God has pronounced this disaster upon this place.

Behold, the cry of the daughter of my people from a far country: “Is not the Lord in Zion? Is not her king in her?” “Why have they provoked Me to anger with their graven images, with foreign vanities?”

Nor will I hide My face from them anymore, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel, says the Lord God.

They speak mere words, swearing falsely in making a covenant. Thus judgment springs up like a poisonous plant in the furrows of the field.

Though they bring up their children, I will bereave them until none are left. Woe to them indeed, when I depart from them!

Then they will cry out to the Lord, but He will not answer them; He will hide His face from them at that time, because they have wrought evil deeds.

Do not go up, for the Lord is not among you; do not let yourselves be defeated by your enemies.

The Lord will not spare him; rather the anger of the Lord and His jealousy will smolder against that man. All the curses that are written in this book will rest on him, and the Lord will blot out his name from under heaven.

then I declare to you today that you will surely perish and that you will not prolong your days in the land which you are crossing the Jordan to go in and possess.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

And I will surely hide My face in that day for all the evil things which they shall have done, in that they turned to other gods.

You must not be frightened of them, for the Lord your God is among you, a great and awesome God.

Again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the Lord. They worshipped the Baals, the Ashtoreths, and the gods of Syria, Sidon, Moab, the Ammonites, and the Philistines. They abandoned the Lord and did not serve Him.

Then Gideon said to him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, then why has all this happened to us? Where are all His miracles that our fathers told us about? They said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us out of Egypt?’ Yet now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”
