When you lay siege to a city for a long time, in making war against it in order to take it, you shall not destroy the trees there by chopping them down with an axe, for you may eat from them; and you shall not cut them down, for the tree of the field is not a man in which to lay siege.
When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war or be charged with any business; he is to be free at home one year, and must bring joy to his wife which he has taken.
If a man is found kidnapping any of his brothers of the Israelites, and makes property of him or sells him, then that kidnapper must die, and you must remove the evil from among you.
The sound of harpists and musicians, flute players and trumpeters, shall not be heard in you any more. No craftsman of any craft shall be found in you any more, and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard in you any more.
