Nevertheless, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam. Instead the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing on you because the Lord your God loves you.

The angel of the Lord said to Balaam, “Go with the men. But only speak the word that I tell you to speak.” So Balaam went with the leaders of Balak.

He sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is by the Euphrates in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying, “Behold, a people has come out of Egypt. They cover the face of the earth, and they dwell next to me.

He crouches, he lies down as a lion, and as a lion, who will stir him up? “Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you.”

As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sake, but as regarding the election, they are beloved for the sake of the patriarchs.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”

Our light affliction, which lasts but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

just as the sons of Esau who dwell in Seir and the Moabites who dwell in Ar did for me, until I pass over the Jordan into the land which the Lord our God is giving us.”

Surely, He loved the people; all His holy ones are in Your hand, and they sit down at Your feet; everyone receives Your words.

Because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their descendants after them and personally brought you out of Egypt with His mighty power

but I refused to listen to Balaam. Therefore he blessed you still, and I delivered you out of his hand.
