Deuteronomy 22:1

You must not see your brother’s ox or his sheep go astray and hide yourself from them. You must certainly bring them back to your brother.

Deliver those who are drawn away toward death; hold back those stumbling toward slaughter.

Your own friend and the friend of your father, forsake not, nor go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity; better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away.

He who gives to the poor will not lack, but he who hides his eyes will receive many curses.

Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the poor who are outcasts into your house? When you see the naked, to cover him and not hide yourself from your own flesh?

I will wait on the Lord, who hides His face from the house of Jacob, and I will eagerly look for Him.

I will seek that which was lost and bring back that which was driven away and bind up that which was broken and will strengthen that which was sick. But I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will feed them with judgment.

The diseased you have not strengthened, nor have you healed that which was sick, nor have you bound up that which was broken, nor have you brought back that which was driven away, nor have you sought that which was lost. But with force and with cruelty you have subjugated them.

If the people of the land in any way hide their eyes from the man when he gives of his children to Molech and do not put him to death,

or if he has found a lost item and lies about it, and swears falsely concerning any one of these sins that a man may commit;

Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Execute true justice, show mercy and compassion, every man to his brother.

But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

But He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

For it is written in the Law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle the mouth of the ox while it treads out the grain.” Is God concerned about oxen?

If your brother is not near you or if you do not know him, then you are to bring it to your own house, and it will be with you until your brother seeks after it. Then you must return it to him.

For you were as sheep going astray, but now have been returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
