then your elders and your judges are to come forth, and they must measure how far it is to the cities which are around him who was slain.

If there is a controversy between men, they are to go to court for judgment, so that the judges may judge them. Then they shall justify the righteous and condemn the wicked.

And it came about when Samuel was old, that he installed his sons as judges for Israel.
