Daniel 9:26

Modern English Version

After the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the troops of the prince who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall come with a flood. And until the end of the war desolations are determined.

They said to the king, “Regarding the man who put an end to us and planned to exterminate us from the entire territory of Israel,

My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; You have set me in the dust of death.

Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong, as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty overflowing waters, He has cast it down to the earth with His hand.

Now therefore, do not continue as mockers, lest your bonds be made stronger; for I have heard from the Lord God of Hosts of determined destruction upon the whole earth.

By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was struck.

now therefore, behold, the Lord is bringing upon them the strong and plentiful waters of the Euphrates River, even the king of Assyria and all his glory; and he shall come up over all his channels and go over all his banks.

Who is this that comes up as the Nile, whose waters surge about as the rivers?

The sea has come up over Babylon; she has been covered with the multitude of the waves.

His sons shall wage war and assemble a multitude of armed forces. One shall advance like a flood and pass through, and again shall wage the war as far as his fortress.

He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, bringing with him a proposal of peace which he shall put into effect. And he shall give him the daughter of women to corrupt it. But she shall not stand on his side or be for him.

A flood of armies shall be swept away before him and be broken, and the prince of the covenant as well.

“The king shall do according to his will. And he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak blasphemous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper until the indignation is accomplished, for that which is determined shall be done.

And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week. But in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.”

Then the Lord said: “Call his name Lo-Ammi, for you are not My people, and I am not your God.”

Will not the land tremble because of this, and everyone mourn who lives on it? It will all rise up like the Nile, and be tossed around, then sink like the Nile of Egypt.

The Lord God of Hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, and all who live on it mourn; it all rises up like the Nile, and subsides like the river of Egypt;

As a flood running forth, He will bring to an end the distress, and He will pursue His adversaries into darkness.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son,

When the king heard about it, he was angry. He sent in his army and destroyed those murderers and burned up their city.

See, your house is left to you desolate.

Jesus answered them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another that shall not be thrown down.”

Jesus answered him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down.”

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled. For such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

He answered, “Elijah indeed comes first to restore all things. Yet how is it written of the Son of Man that He should suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

They will fall by the edge of the sword and will be led away captive to all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

“As for these things which you see, the days will come when not one stone shall be left on another that will not be thrown down.”

Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter His glory?”

He said to them, “Thus it is written, and accordingly it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

After this I will not speak much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over Me.

God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being made a curse for us—as it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” —

For to this you were called, because Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness. “By His wounds you were healed.”

For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit,
