For thus says the Lord God: The city that went out with a thousand will be left with a hundred, and the one that went out with a hundred will be left with ten for the house of Israel.
For though your people, O Israel, are as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return; the destruction is decreed, overflowing with righteousness.
But yet in it shall be one-tenth, and it shall return, and shall be burned, as a terebinth tree or as an oak, whose stump remains when it is cut down, so the holy seed is its stump.”
But I will spare a few men of them from the sword, from famine, and from pestilence, so that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they go and know that I am the Lord.
It will be that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good and to multiply you, so the Lord will take pleasure over you to destroy you and to bring you to nothing. You will be plucked from off the land which you go to possess.
