For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast, and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the Lord.
For the Lord will pass through to kill the Egyptians. And when He sees the blood upon the lintel and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not permit the destroyer to come to your houses to kill you.
Gladness and joy are taken away out of the plentiful field, and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, nor shall there be shouting; the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses. I have made their vintage shouting to cease.
Joy and gladness are taken away from the plentiful field, even from the land of Moab, and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses; no one will tread with shouting. Their shouting will not be shouts of joy.
Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who dwells in Zion, My holy mountain. And Jerusalem will be holy, and invaders will never again pass through her.
So the Lord says: “Even though they are full and many, they will be cut down, and it will pass away. Even though I have afflicted you, I will no longer afflict you, O Judah;
Behold, on the mountains, the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Make your feasts, O Judah, and complete your vows. For the wicked one will never again pass through your midst; he is completely cut down.
Then I will make camp at My house with a garrison, so that no one can pass back and forth. And no oppressor will pass through them, for now I see with My eyes.
