Then they cried out with a loud voice, closed their ears, and rushed at him in unison.

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; they are like the deaf adder that stops its ear,

He who shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he also will cry out, but will not be heard.

But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears so that they should not hear.

This man was seized by the Jews and was about to be killed by them. When I learned that he was a Roman citizen, I came with soldiers and rescued him.

When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart with rage, and they gnashed their teeth at him.
