Brothers, look among yourselves for seven men who are known to be full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint over this duty.

Moreover, you shall choose out of all the people capable men who fear God, men of truth, hating dishonest gain, and place these men over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.

There we found brothers, and were invited to remain with them for seven days. And so we went to Rome.

So the twelve called the multitude of disciples together and said, “It is not reasonable for us to leave the word of God and serve tables.

And what was said pleased the whole multitude, and they chose Stephen, who was a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Procorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

whom they presented before the apostles. And when they had prayed, they placed their hands on them.

When the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him off to Tarsus.

To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit,

And when I come, I will send whomever you approve with your letters to take your generous gifts to Jerusalem.

Do not be drunk with wine, for that is reckless living. But be filled with the Spirit.

Choose wise, discerning, and knowing men, among your tribes, and I will appoint them as leaders over you.”

is well attested in good works, if she has brought up children, has lodged strangers, has washed the saints’ feet, has relieved the afflicted, and has diligently followed every good work.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no change or shadow of turning.

Demetrius receives good reports from everyone and from the truth itself. Yes, and we also testify, and you know that our testimony is true.
