After the governor motioned to him to speak, Paul answered, “Knowing that for many years you have been a judge over this nation, I cheerfully defend myself.

“When they bring you to the synagogues, rulers, and authorities, do not be anxious how you will answer or what you will say.

Jesus said to him, “Man, who appointed Me a judge or an arbitrator between you?”

He said: “In a city there was a judge who did not fear God or regard man.

Motioning to them with his hand to be quiet, he described to them how the Lord had led him out of the prison. And he said, “Go, tell these things to James and to the brothers.” Then he departed and went to another place.

Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said: “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen.

But if it is a question of words and names and your law, look into it yourselves. For I do not intend to be a judge of these matters.”

The Jews pushed Alexander to the front as the crowd prompted him. Alexander motioned with his hand, wishing to make his defense to the mob.

When he had given him permission, Paul stood on the stairs and motioned with his hand to the people. When there was great silence, he addressed them in the Aramaic language, saying,

And provide mounts so Paul may ride and take him safely to Felix the governor.”

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You are permitted to speak for yourself.” So Paul stretched out his hand and made his defense:

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to every man who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, with gentleness and fear.

If one man sins against another, God will judge him, but if a man sins against the Lord, who will intercede for him?” But they did not listen to the voice of their father, because the Lord desired to kill them.
