Acts 20:9

Modern English Version

A young man named Eutychus sat in the window, falling into a deep sleep as Paul spoke for a longer time. Being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third floor and was taken up dead.

And he said to her, “Give me your son,” and he took him out of her arms and carried him up to a loft where he slept and laid him on his own bed.

The spirit cried out and convulsed him greatly. But it came out of him, and he was as dead, so that many said, “He is dead.”

Then some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there and persuaded the crowds. They stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing he was dead.

Paul went down and leaned over him, and embracing him said, “Do not be troubled, for he is alive.”

On the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to leave the next day, preached to them and continued his message until midnight.

There were many lamps in the upper room where they were assembled.
