The watchman says, “The morning comes and also the night. If you would inquire, inquire; return again.”

You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

They were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, “What is this? What new teaching is this? With authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

For you are bringing strange things to our ears. Therefore we want to know what these things mean.”

Then Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus, and said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious.

However, some men joined him and believed. Among them were Dionysius, member of the Areopagus, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Then the commander took him by the hand, went aside privately, and asked him, “What is it you have to tell me?”

After several days, when Felix arrived with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewish woman, he sent for Paul and heard him speak concerning faith in Christ.

Then Agrippa said to Festus, “I would like to hear the man myself.” He said, “Tomorrow you shall hear him.”

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You are permitted to speak for yourself.” So Paul stretched out his hand and made his defense:
