When he had seized him, he put him in prison and handed him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him before the people after the Passover.

The letters were sent by mounted couriers into all the king’s provinces to cause the destruction, slaughter, and annihilation of all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and even to plunder their possessions.

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying:

Many are the plans in the heart of a man, but it is the counsel of the Lord that will stand.

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

“Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and will kill you. And you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.

But they said, “Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.”

Now the feasts of the Passover and of Unleavened Bread were two days away. And the chief priests and the scribes looked for a way to seize Him secretly and kill Him.

“But before all these things, they will seize you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake.

He said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You to prison and to death.”

When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took His garments and divided them into four parts, a part for each soldier; and also His tunic. Now the tunic was seamless, woven from top to bottom.

Truly, truly I say to you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you desired. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.”

Seeing that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to arrest Peter also. This happened during the Days of Unleavened Bread.

So Peter was kept in prison. But the church prayed to God without ceasing for him.

to do what Your hand and Your counsel had foreordained to be done.

And they seized them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.

They seized the apostles and put them in the common prison.

But Saul ravaged the church, entering house by house and dragging out both men and women and committing them to prison.
