When Herod had searched for him and did not find him, he examined the guards and commanded that they should be put to death. Then he went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there.

The king of Israel went to his house in Samaria angry and depressed.

As Mordecai returned again to the king’s gate, Haman hurried to his house, mourning with his head covered.

But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But the Lord hid them.

When he had seized him, he put him in prison and handed him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him before the people after the Passover.

The very night when Herod would have brought him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. And the guards before the door were securing the prison.

When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.

The next day we who were Paul’s companions departed, and arrived at Caesarea, and entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.

After several days King Agrippa and Bernice arrived at Caesarea to welcome Festus.

The soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim away and escape.

But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached the gospel in all the cities until he came to Caesarea.

And David remained in the wilderness in strongholds, and dwelt in mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not give him into his hand.
