When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading to the city, which opened to them by itself, and they went out and walked down one street, and immediately the angel left him.

So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Joseph was confined.

He put them all together in custody for three days.

Then the watchman called: “O Lord, I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime, and I am stationed at my guard post every night.

They put him in confinement because it was not declared what should be done to him.

On the evening of that first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

After eight days His disciples were again inside with the doors shut, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came and stood among them, and said, “Peace be with you.”

When he had seized him, he put him in prison and handed him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him before the people after the Passover.

Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s shackles were loosened.

But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and led them out, and said,

“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: “He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens, says these things:
