The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”

Then they said, “Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah. For the law will not be lost from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.”

Therefore do not listen to your prophets, or to your diviners, or to your dreamers, or to your enchanters, or to your sorcerers who speak to you, saying, “You shall not serve the king of Babylon.”

For thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams which they dream.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and My people love to have it so. Yet what will you do in the end?

If a man, going about vapidly and deceitfully, lies, “I will preach for you wine and beer,” he would be just the preacher for this people.

The chief priests and the scribes tried to lay their hands on Him that same hour, but they feared the people. For they perceived that He had told this parable against them.

Woe to you, when all men speak well of you, for so their fathers spoke of the false prophets.

Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.

For all the Athenians and foreigners who lived there spent their time in nothing else, but either telling or hearing something new.

Brothers, when I came to you, I did not come with superiority of speech or wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.

My speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

Have I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

for the sexually immoral, for practicing homosexuals, for slave traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for anything else that is contrary to sound teaching,

Follow the pattern of sound teaching which you have heard from me in the faith and love that is in Christ Jesus.

They said to you, “In the last days there will be scoffers who will walk after their own ungodly desires.”
