Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul came to David and fell upon his face and bowed down. Then David said, “Mephibosheth,” and he answered, “Behold, I am your servant.”

He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself toward the ground.

He went on before them, bowing himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.

When he turned around, he noticed me. He summoned me, and I responded, ‘Here I am.’

Then David said to Ziba, “Behold, all that belonged to Mephibosheth is now yours.” Ziba replied, “I bow before you. May I find favor in your sight, my lord the king.”

But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul on account of the oath of the Lord that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

Now Jonathan the son of Saul had a son with crippled feet. He was five years old when the report of Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but in her haste to escape, he fell and became lame. His name was Mephibosheth.

So King David sent for and brought him from the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.

Jonathan’s son was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal fathered Micah.

The son of Jonathan was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal fathered Micah.

When the boy had gone, David rose from the south side of the stone, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times. They kissed one another and wept together, but David wept more.

When Abigail saw David, she hurriedly got down from the donkey and fell before David upon her face. And she bowed herself to the ground.
