When Aram saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they assembled together.

Hadadezer sent for and summoned the Arameans who were beyond the Euphrates River, and they came to Helam. Shobak the commander of the army of Hadadezer led them.

When all of the kings who were subject to Hadadezer realized that they were being defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel and became subject to them. From then on, Aram was fearful of further helping the Ammonites.

When the Ammonites saw that they had become odious to David, the Ammonites sent and hired the Arameans of Beth-rehob and the Arameans of Zobah, twenty thousand foot soldiers, and from the king of Maacah, one thousand men, and from Tob, twelve thousand men.

Then Solomon went to Hamath Zobah and seized it.

O God, You have rejected us; You have broken our defenses; You have been displeased; oh, restore us.

May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.

I will set your boundaries from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the Euphrates River; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you will drive them out before you.

Every place where the soles of your feet tread will be yours. Your border will be from the wilderness to Lebanon, from the river, the Euphrates River, as far as the Mediterranean Sea.

So Saul took the kingdom over Israel and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the Ammonites, against Edom and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines. Whatever place he turned himself, he defeated them.
