That night the word of the Lord came to Nathan:
But it happened on that same night that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,
He said, “Hear now My word. If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord will make Myself known to him in a vision, and I will speak to him in a dream.
Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing His purpose to His servants the prophets.
Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart because the Lord is with you.”
Go and say to My servant David: Thus says the Lord: Do you intend to build a house for Me in which I will dwell?
The Lord sent Nathan to David. He came to him and said, “There were two men in a certain city. One was wealthy, but the other was poor.
‘Since the day that I brought forth My people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city from any tribe of Israel to build a house where My name might be praised, but I chose David to be over My people Israel.’
