Then King David went in and sat before the Lord. He said, “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house that You have brought me this far?

So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should acknowledge me, a foreigner?”

Samuel said, “When you were little in your own sight, were you not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord anointed you king over Israel?

But David said to Saul, “Who am I? And what is my life, or my father’s family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?”

Saul answered, “Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you speak to me this way?”
