When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up after you an offspring from your body, and I will establish his rule.

And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir, but a son that is from your own body will be your heir.”

He is a tower of salvation for His king, and He acts faithfully toward His anointed, toward David and his descendants forever.

Otherwise it shall be that when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, I and my son Solomon shall be considered offenders.”

The king also said, ‘Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day so that I could see with my own eyes.’ ”

Now it was coming close to the day of David’s death, and he gave his son Solomon a charge, saying:

So David slept with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.

that the Lord may carry out His word that He spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your children take heed to their way, to walk before Me in faithfulness with all their hearts and with all their souls, you shall not fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’

So know that I plan to build a house to honor the name of the Lord my God, just as the Lord spoke to my father David, saying, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne after you, shall build a house to honor My name.’

and he said, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David and has with His hand fulfilled His word, saying,

Nevertheless, you shall not build the house, but your son who will come out of your loins, he shall build the house for My name.’

“The Lord has fulfilled His word that He spoke, and I have been elevated to the position of my father David, to sit on the throne of Israel as the Lord promised, and have built a house for the name of the Lord God of Israel.

then I will establish the throne of your kingdom upon Israel forever, just as I promised to your father David, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man upon the throne of Israel.’

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of His servant David, since He promised to give a lamp to him and his sons perpetually.

Then it will be when your days are full and you go to your fathers, I will raise up your seed after you from your own sons. His kingdom I will establish.

Now, Lord God, may Your word to David my father be confirmed, for You have made me king over a people numerous as the dust of the earth.

Do you all not know that the Lord God of Israel has perpetually given the kingdom of Israel to David, even to him and to his sons with a covenant of salt?

But the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David because of the covenant that He made with David, and because He said that He would give a lamp to David and his sons for all days.

So the whole assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God, and Jehoiada said to them, “Behold, the king’s son will reign, as the Lord has said of the sons of David.

You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father. You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.

only you will not be the one to build the house. For your son, who will be born to you, he will build a house for My name.’

His descendants also will I establish forever and his throne as the days of heaven.

In that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the peoples. For him shall the nations seek. And his rest shall be glorious.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to order it and to establish it with justice and with righteousness, from now until forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this.

For thus says the Lord: David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake—some to everlasting life, and others to everlasting shame and contempt.

The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the son of Abraham:

He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest. And the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.

“For after David had served by the counsel of God in his own generation, he fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw decay.

But being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of his seed according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,

The Lord said to Moses, “Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers. Then this people will rise up and begin to prostitute themselves after the gods of the foreigners of the land, where they are going to be among them, and will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them.

For if we believe that Jesus died and arose again, so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
