The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, who were living in the land. They said to David, “You will not enter here; even the blind and the lame will turn you away”—thinking, “David cannot enter here.”

Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was the priest of God Most High.

For by You I can run over a channel; by my God I can leap over a wall.

The people of Judah were not able to drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem, so the Jebusites live with the people of Judah in Jerusalem to this day.

Zelah, Haeleph, the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, and Kiriath—fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin according to their clans.

However, the tribe of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem, so the Jebusites live with the tribe of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

Then Judah waged war against Jerusalem. They captured it, struck it with the edge of the sword, and sent the city up in flames.
