The Lord has returned upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned. And the Lord has given the kingdom into the hand of your son Absalom. You are taken in your own evil, because you are a man of blood.”

For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!”

so that the violence done to the seventy sons of Jerub-Baal and their blood might come back upon Abimelech their brother, who killed them, and upon the leaders of Shechem, who empowered him to kill his brothers.
