Moreover, Josiah disposed of the mediums, the soothsayers, the teraphim, the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, so that he established the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

“Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, things more evil than all that the Amorites did, and has also caused Judah to sin with his idols,

He walked in all the ways that his father walked, served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them.

He went back and rebuilt the high places that Hezekiah his father had destroyed. He erected altars for Baal, made an Asherah pole as Ahab king of Israel had done, and worshipped all the host of heaven and served them.

He made his son pass through the fire, was conjuring and seeking omens, and dealt with mediums and soothsayers. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger.

But in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, this Passover was kept to the Lord in Jerusalem.

The spirit of Egypt shall be discouraged in their midst, and I will destroy their counsel; then they shall seek for the idols and for the charmers and for the mediums and the sorcerers.

For the Israelites will remain many days without a king and without a prince, without a sacrifice and without a standing stone, and without an ephod and teraphim.

Do not turn to spirits through mediums or necromancers. Do not seek after them to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

A man or woman who speaks to spirits as a medium or necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall stone them. Their blood guilt shall be upon them.

Therefore by the works of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in his deeds.

Outside are dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and practices a lie.

This man Micah owned a shrine. He made an ephod and household idols, and he hired one of his sons to be a priest for him.
