Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” And he said, “As the Lord lives, and as you live, I will not leave you.” And the two of them went on.
So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand and the knife. So the two of them walked on together.
Elijah said to Elisha, “Tarry here, I ask you, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel.” But Elisha said to him, “As the Lord lives, and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.
When the carriers of the ark came to the Jordan, the feet of the priests carrying the ark dipped into the edge of the water. (Now the Jordan overflows its banks all the days of the harvest.)
