After this, Joseph was told, “Behold, your father is ill.” So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him.

When Jacob finished instructing his sons, he drew his feet into the bed, breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.

The Lord sent against him bands of Chaldeans, bands of Arameans, bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord that He spoke by His servants the prophets.

Devout men carried Stephen to his burial and made great lamentation over him.

Then the Israelites once more did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord strengthened King Eglon of Moab against Israel because they had done what was evil in the sight of the Lord.
