The hand of the Lord was on Elijah, and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

He said to them, “What sort of man was he who came up to meet you and told you these things?”

at the same time the Lord spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz saying, “Go and loosen the sackcloth from your waist and take off your shoes from your feet.” And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

On that day each prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. He will not put on a robe of coarse hair in order to deceive.

John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a leather belt around his waist. And he ate locusts and wild honey.

And he will go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
