For when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, and we were troubled on every side. On the outside were conflicts; on the inside were fears.

I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother. So taking my leave of them, I went from there into Macedonia.

For to this end I also wrote, so that I might know that you are proving yourselves by whether you are being obedient in all things.

I am afraid for you, lest I have worked for you in vain.

The sword outside and terror within will destroy both the young man and the virgin, the infant along with the man of gray hair.

For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to inquire about your faith, lest by some means the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor might have been in vain.
