2 Corinthians 7:11

For observe this very thing, which you became sorrowful in a godly way: What carefulness it produced in you, what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what intense desire, what zeal, what avenging of wrong! In all things you have proven yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.

Strive to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

and not only by his coming, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you, when he told us about your sincere desire, your mourning, and your zeal toward me, so that I rejoiced even more.

But God judges those who are outside. Therefore “put away from among yourselves that wicked person.”

Serve the Lord with fear; and tremble with trepidation!

Therefore, since the promise of entering His rest remains, let us fear lest any of you should seem to come short of it.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you constantly to affirm, so that those who have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to everyone.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but so much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

And do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness; instead, expose them.

Be angry but do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger.

Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do that which is honorable, whether or not we may seem disqualified.

I know your willingness, for which I boast of you to those in Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago, and your zeal has stirred up most of them.

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

But in all things we commend ourselves as servants of God: in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distress,

This punishment which was inflicted by many on such a man is sufficient.

so that there should be no division in the body, but that the parts should have the same care for one another.

But you are arrogant. Instead you should have mourned, so that he who has done this deed might be removed from among you.

This is correct. They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear.

While Paul waited for them in Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols.

His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.”

When He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch your hand forward.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.

Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorrowful in a godly way, that you might not suffer loss in any way through us.

Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”

But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous in taking vengeance? (I am speaking in human terms.)

and that no man take advantage of and defraud his brother in any matter, because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

Rebuke in the presence of everyone those who sin, that the rest also may fear.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
