According to his wisdom will a man be praised, but the perverse of heart will be despised.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts.

Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.

He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is highly esteemed before men is an abomination before God.

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth was a man attested to you by God with powerful works and wonders and signs, which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves know.

For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.

Greet Apelles, who is approved in Christ. Greet those who are of the household of Aristobulus.

But he is a Jew who is one inwardly. And circumcision is of the heart, by the Spirit, and not by the letter. His praise is not from men, but from God.

For there must also be factions among you so that those who are genuine may become evident among you.

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time until the Lord comes. He will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will reveal the purposes of the hearts. Then everyone will have commendation from God.

For we dare not count or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. They who measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another are not wise.

Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do that which is honorable, whether or not we may seem disqualified.

Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, letters of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?

For we are not commending ourselves again to you. Instead, we give you occasion to boast on our behalf, that you may have something to answer those who boast in appearance and not in heart.

But in all things we commend ourselves as servants of God: in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distress,

Strive to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

in order that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tried by fire, may be found to result in praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
