So the archers shot King Josiah, and the king said to his servants, “Take me away, for I am severely wounded.”

The archers bitterly attacked him, they shot at him and hated him.

A certain man drew a bow at random and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor, and because of this, he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded.”

King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel because he was ill.

Jehu drew a bow with his full strength and shot Joram between his shoulder blades. The arrow went out at his heart, and he knelt down in his chariot.

But a man pulled his bow at random and struck the king of Israel between his armor scales and body armor. He said to the commander of the chariot, “Turn and remove me from the battle because I am wounded.”

But Josiah did not turn away from him, for he went to battle against him disguised. He did not listen to the words of Necho that came from the mouth of God, but he came to battle in the plain of Megiddo.

Then his servants took him from the chariot, and they set him in a second chariot, and they brought him to Jerusalem. He died and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

He has caused the arrows of His quiver to pierce my inward parts.
