Then the king went up to the house of the Lord with men from Judah and those living in Jerusalem, even the priests and Levites and all the people from the greatest to the least, and he read within their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant that was found in the house of the Lord.

The king went up to the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, the priests, the prophets, and all the people, both small and great. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant that was found in the house of the Lord.

The king commanded all the people, “Keep the Passover to the Lord your God as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.”

And the king of Aram ordered the commanders of his chariots, “Do not wage war with the small or great but with the king of Israel alone.”

Then Hilkiah said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the Lord.” And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan.

Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will bring disaster on this place and all who dwell in it, even all the curses that are written in the book that they read before the king of Judah.

Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant written in this book.

The small and great, they are there, and the servant is free from his master.

He took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people, and they said, “All that the Lord has said we will do, and we will be obedient.”

I, Qoheleth, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem.

The prince shall be in their midst. When they enter, he shall enter; and when they go out, he shall go out.

You shall not show partiality in judgment, but you shall hear the small as well as the great. You shall not be afraid in any man’s presence, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring it to me, and I will hear it.”
