The registration of the priests was according to the house of their fathers and the Levites from twenty years and above, according to their duties and their divisions.
These were the sons of Levi according to their fathers’ houses, the heads of the fathers’ houses as they were registered by the number of their names according to their head count, those doing the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from twenty years old and up.
They were registered with all their little children, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, the entire assembly, for they consecrated themselves in faithfulness.
And Hezekiah set up the divisions of the priests and Levites according to their divisions, each man as he worked among the priests and Levites for burnt and fellowship offerings, to serve, give thanks, and offer praise at the gates of the camp of the Lord.
These were the ones who came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Kerub, Addon, and Immer, but they could not prove their father’s house or their descent, whether they were of Israel:
All those who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses, Aaron, and the leaders of Israel numbered, by their families, and by the house of their fathers,
This is what belongs to the Levites: From twenty-five years old and older they will go in to do their duty concerning the service of the tent of meeting.
