Then the Spirit came upon Amasai the captain of the officers, and he said, “We are for you, David, and with you, son of Jesse. Peace, peace to you, and peace to the one helping you, for your God helps you.” So David welcomed them and appointed them as captains of the troops.

In the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, those written by name came and attacked their tents, along with the Meunites who were found there, and utterly destroyed them until this day. Then they dwelt there in their place because there was pasture for their flocks there.

They were helped against them, and the Hagrites and all who were with them were delivered into their hand, for they cried to God in the battle, and He heard their prayer because they trusted in Him.

So many fell slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their place until the exile.

Then Asa went out to engage him, and they arranged for battle in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.

And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing with You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power. Help us, O  Lord our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name we come against this multitude. O  Lord, You are our God. Let no man prevail against You.”

Some from the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute, and the Arabs also brought him seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.

After that, the Moabites and the Ammonites, together with some Meunites, came against Jehoshaphat for battle.

Then the Lord stirred up the spirit of the Philistines against Jehoram and also the Arabians who were near the Cushites.

But if you go, do it. Be strong for the battle. Yet God shall make you fall before the enemy, for God has power to help and to bring down.”

For by You I can outrun a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.

Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of you, because the rod that struck you is broken; for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a viper, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

Therefore having obtained help from God, I continue to this day, testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would happen:
