Did You not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham Your friend?

The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” So he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

All the land that you see I will give to you and to your descendants forever.

I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing with You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power. Help us, O  Lord our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name we come against this multitude. O  Lord, You are our God. Let no man prevail against You.”

And they have dwelt in it and have built in it for You a sanctuary for Your name saying,

and found his heart faithful before You. And You made a covenant with him to give him the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, and the Girgashites—to give it to his seed. Indeed, You have fulfilled Your words because You are righteous.

You drove out the nations with Your hand, but them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, but them You set free.

For they did not take possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, and Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them.

You have brought a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the nations and planted it.

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

I will send an angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

And I will take you to Me for a people, and I will be to you a God. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham, My friend.

After He said this, He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. But I am going that I may awaken him from sleep.”

I no longer call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I have heard from My Father have I made known to you.

to drive out nations from before you greater and mightier than you are, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is today.

The Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.

“Be strong and courageous, for you shall provide the land that I swore to their fathers to give them as an inheritance for this people.

“For the Lord has dispossessed before you great and mighty peoples, and as for you, not a single man has been able to stand against you until today.

I gave you a land for which you did not work, and cities that you did not build. You live in them, and you are eating from the produce of vineyards and olive groves you did not plant.

I took your father Abraham from beyond the Euphrates, brought him through all the land of Canaan, and gave him many descendants. To him I gave Isaac.
