Then the king of Israel responded to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man from whom we can seek the Lord, but I hate him because he does not prophesy anything good for me but always disaster. He is Micaiah the son of Imlah.” And Jehoshaphat said, “May the king not speak like this.”

And Micaiah said, “As the Lord lives, whatever my God says, that will I speak.”

But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not still here another prophet for the Lord from whom we might inquire?”

So the king of Israel called to a court eunuch and said, “Hurry and bring Micaiah the son of Imlah.”

Evil will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they bring down trouble upon me, and in anger they hate me.

Deliver me out of the mire and let me not sink; let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters.

Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover to an obedient ear.

Therefore the officials said to the king, “We beseech you, let this man be put to death, for he thus weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them, for this man does not seek the welfare of this people, but their harm.”

They hate the one who prosecutes at the gate, and abhor the one who speaks with integrity.

Should it be said, O house of Jacob, “Is the Spirit of the Lord impatient? Are these His deeds?” Do not My words benefit him who walks uprightly?

So the king immediately sent an executioner and commanded his head to be brought. He went and beheaded him in the prison,

Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they separate you from their company and insult you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man.

If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin. But now have they seen and hated both My Father and Me.

The world cannot hate you. But it hates Me, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil.

Have I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
