Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done.

He expelled the male cult prostitutes from the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

But the high places were not all removed, even though Asa’s heart was wholly devoted to the Lord all his days.

And Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Asa his son then reigned in his place. In his days the land was quiet for ten years.

He took down the foreign altars and high places, and he shattered the pillars and cut down the images of Asherah.

King Asa even removed his mother Maacah from being queen mother because she had made a detestable image for Asherah. Asa cut down her image, crushed it, and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

His heart was raised up for the ways of the Lord. He even removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.

He walked in the way of his father Asa, and he did not turn aside from doing what was right in the eyes of the Lord.

And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Thus says the Lord God of David your father: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

And when this celebration was finished, all of Israel that was present went out to the cities of Judah and smashed the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah poles and tore down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, and in Ephraim and Manasseh, until everything was destroyed. Then all Israel returned to their cities, each man to his own possession.

Hezekiah did this throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and just and faithful before the Lord his God.

he broke down the altars, beat Asherah poles and the images into powder, and cut down all the incense altars throughout all the land of Israel. Then he returned to Jerusalem.

You must not bow down to their gods, or serve them, or do according to their practices, but you shall utterly overthrow them and break down their images in pieces.

in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our lives.

And you shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their Asherah poles with fire, and you shall cut down the engraved images of their gods, and eliminate their names out of that place.
