2 Chronicles 10:16

When all Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people answered the king saying, “What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. O Israel, each man to your tent. Now look after your own house, O David!” Then all Israel departed to their tents.

So Israel has rebelled against the house of David until this day.

There happened to be a worthless man there whose name was Sheba the son of Bichri, a Benjamite. He sounded the trumpet and said, “We have no share in David, nor do we have an inheritance in the son of Jesse; every man to his tents, O Israel.”

“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

For He will reign until He has put all enemies under His feet.

But being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of his seed according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,

Then everyone went to his own house.

On that day will I raise up the hut of David that is fallen; I will close up its breached walls, raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old;

And there shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

“There will I make the horn of David sprout up; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed.

Surely the wrath of man shall praise You; with the remainder of wrath You will gird Yourself.

I will assign him a place in My house and in My kingdom forever, and his throne will be established for all time.

However, I will not take the whole kingdom away, but will preserve one tribe for your son for David My servant’s sake and for the sake of Jerusalem which I chose.”

David then said to Abishai and to all of his servants, “Behold, my son who came from my own body seeks my life, and now also this Benjamite. Leave him alone and let him curse if the Lord has so instructed him.

A messenger came to David and said, “The hearts of the men of Israel are following Absalom.”

Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you gave him bread and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me to ambush me, as at this day?”

Then Doeg the Edomite, who was chief over the servants of Saul, answered, “I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

Saul said to his servants that stood about him, “Hear now, Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards? Will he appoint you all as captains of thousands and captains of hundreds?

It happened on the following day, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place remained empty. So Saul said to Jonathan his son, “Why has the son of Jesse not come to eat food either yesterday or today?”

and they did not keep faith with the family of Jerub-Baal (that is, Gideon), for all the good he had done for Israel.

“But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’

The Israelites dwelt in the cities of Judah, and Rehoboam reigned over them.
