Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and teaching.

And as they were crossing, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask for something, and I will do it for you before I am taken away from you.” And Elisha said, “Let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

Speak kindly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare has ended, that her iniquity has been pardoned, that she has received of the hand of the Lord double for all her sins.

First I will doubly recompense their iniquity and their sin, because they have defiled My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable things.

Let those who persecute me be humiliated, but let me not be humiliated; let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed. Bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.

Return to your stronghold, prisoners who now have hope. Today I declare that I will return to you a double portion.

You will eat it in every place, you and your households, because it is your reward for your service in the tent of meeting.

See, I have told you beforehand.

Remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they give, for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Do not go from house to house.

I sent you to reap a crop for which you did not labor. And you have benefited from their labor.”

In all things I have shown you how, working like this, you must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’  ”

They honored us in many ways. And when we sailed, they provided us with necessary supplies.

he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

It has pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, they also ought to minister to them in material things.

For if a man does not know how to manage his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?

Do not receive an accusation against an elder, except before two or three witnesses.

Honor widows that are widows indeed.

The farmer who labors should be first to partake of the crops.

Preach the word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. Let them do this with joy and not complaining, for that would not be profitable to you.

Greet all those who rule over you and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you.

Remember those who rule over you, who have proclaimed to you the word of God. Follow their faith, considering the results it has produced in their lives.
